Recently, our faculty successfully held a meeting “My Views About Civil Engineering” in room 1F202 of Sanjiang Building. The director of the department of civil engineering associate prof. Chunhua Lu, deputy director associate prof. Yongdong Yan , deputy directorassociate prof. Jie Yin was attended to the meeting and introduced some information to students. The whole 2017 class of civil engineering majors took part in the lecture.

First of all, A.P. Chunhua Lu talked about the long history of civil engineering. Director Lu put forward four qualities that we should have in learning civil engineering specialty: imagination, lateral thinking, rational thinking and positive realization. He hoped that our students can focus on developing their own abilities to learn this major better. Director Lu also showed us a series of famous buildings and bridges and pointed out the importance of civil engineering. While A.P. Jie Yin introduced the four years' study plan of the university and the relevant academic certificate from the syllabus. Yongdong Yan, deputy director, introduced the equipment of the laboratory and encouraged students to develop their thought and innovation while learning professional knowledge, and made use of various equipment in the laboratory to make breakthrough for their research.

It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read a thousand books, and to walk ten thousand miles is not as good as a famous teacher. After this lecture, students also have a plan for their future and their confused heart gradually become firm.
