On the afternoon of June 24th, Prof. Guo Wanlin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to our faculty to give a theme report entitled “Mechanics above the edge” in the third lecture hall of the conference center. Many teachers and students attended the meeting.
The report was hosted by Prof. Bi Qinsheng, Dean of our faculty. Prof. Bi gave a warm welcome to Prof. Guo to visit our school and introduced his research field and his achievements in the fields of fatigue fracture mechanics, nanomaterials and water-repellent materials.
Then Prof. Guo made an academic report on “Mechanics above the edge”. He first reviewed his past experiences, achievements and experiences in the study of cutting-edge mechanics. Secondly, Prof. Guo gave a detailed introduction of his series of breakthrough achievements in the research direction of micro/nano mechanics, and gave an example of his multi-field coupling theory framework of force-electro-magnetic-optical, which solved the molecular dynamics. Finally, Prof. Guo called on young teachers to act as soon as possible to keep up with the forefront of world research and make a due contribution to breaking through the technological restrictions imposed by the US-led Western countries.

Prof Guo’s lecture has a strong background of engineering, which has aroused strong interest from teachers and students. They extensively exchanged and discussed with Prof. Guo on the academic issues in their research direction.
