On Oct.31st, the internationally renowned scholar in the field of computational mechanics Prof. Liyong Tong visited our faculty and gave a lecture with the title of “Multiscale composite materials: fabrication and characterization”. Many students attended the meeting which hosted by Prof. Jianguo Zhu.
Prof. Liyong Tong firstly introduced the research progress of the interface modification method of fiber reinforced resin matrix composites. In order to carry out the high temperature environment, the method of chemical grafting of carbon nanotubes at low temperature was proposed. Then the carbon fiber interface grafting, characterization methods of mechanical properties, and show relevant experimental test results were introduced. The lectures aroused the strong interest of teachers and students. After the report ended, the teachers and students had extensive exchanges and discussions with Prof. Tong on the academic issues in his research direction.
