The salon invited Dr. Wang Peng of our faculty to give an academic report titled “Research on Urban Resilience under the Coupling of Extreme Climate Disasters and Environmental Deterioration” for everyone.
The report was hosted by Assistant Dean Han Yu, and some faculty members and graduate students participated in this academic activity. At the beginning of the event, Dean Han Yu introduced Dr. Wang Peng’s overseas study experience and research direction, pointing out that urban resilience research is gradually becoming a new research hotspot with urban lifeline engineering and disaster prevention and reduction projects. At the same time, it is hoped that young teachers should pay attention to the integration of disciplines, especially the connection of civil engineering and mechanics in our college.
Afterward, Dr. Wang introduced the topic from three aspects. Firstly, how should cities respond to the combination of extreme climate disasters and environmental degradation? Secondly, what is urban planning and what is a resilience city? Dr. Wang answered these two questions from six aspects. Thirdly, Dr. Wang introduced the research results obtained during his reading and work.
In the interactive session, teachers and students had a lively discussion with Dr. Wang on academic and life issues. Through this report, academic exchanges among teachers have been promoted, mutual understanding has been enhanced, and a good atmosphere has been created for teachers to cooperate with each other, which has effectively boosted the construction of our research team.
