On Nov.22nd, 2017, at 3:30 pm, Prof. Xiaoliang Wu, director of the Zhenjiang Surveying and Mapping Institute, gave an academic report titled ‘Engineering geology and geotechnical engineering problems in the exploitation and utilization of underground space’ in the conference room 210. The lecture was hosted by assistant dean Yu Han.
Wu mainly introduced the engineering geology and getechnical problems in the development and utilization of underground space: (1) the role and significance of underground space development and utilization; (2) requirements for geotechnical engineering and engineering geology in the development and utilization of underground space; (3) geotechnical problems that need to be studied and solved in the development of underground space; (4) introduction of suitability evaluation method for underground space development.
Teachers and students of our faculty participated actively during the report and exchanged opinions with Prof. Wu on the academic issues and professional employment of his research direction. Through this report, teachers and students broadened their horizons, increased their professional knowledge, stimulate their academic enthusiasm and gained a deeper and clearer understanding of the basic and applied research fields in the field of underground space engineering.
