On the morning of Nov. 25th, the opening ceremony of the 7th Architectural Festival of Jiangsu University, hosted by the Youth League Committee of Jiangsu University and undertaken by our faculty, was held on the west side of the auditorium. Chairman of Faculty Affairs Committee Hong Zhang, Dean Qinsheng Bi, Deputy Director of Student Affairs Office Zezhong Ren, Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department Yuzhong Wang, and other leaders our faculty, professors presented at the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony was firstly addressed by Dean Qinsheng Bi. He said he was very happy and pleased to see that there are so many creative and exquisite works presented by the students. He believed that in the future, students will be able to construct a building that is more in line with demand, more functional and environmentally friendly. At the same time, he also made higher demands on the students and hoped that the students would make a solid contribution to their efforts in building a new blueprint for China in the future by earnestly studying, earnestly accumulating, and thinking proactively. Then, Hong Zhang announced the official opening of the 7th Architectural Festival of Jiangsu University.
The highlight of the opening ceremony was the preliminary competition of structural innovation contest. Seven experts, including Prof. Ronggui Liu were invited as the judges. The competition is divided into a loading test group and a model presentation group. The loading model is required in the finite material to maximize the load of the model through the structural design. The loading test of the field was finished with the sound and exclamation of a weight landing. The 54 groups of loading works were tested one by one, and the first one got a good result of loading more than 110 kilograms. The works of the model presentation group were also creative, ten groups of students introduced their works design concepts, some emphasis on environmental protection, some emphasis on the structure, and some attach importance to the utilization of space in buildings. After each team leader introduced the design concept, the judges commented, and the participating students also said they benefited greatly.
After the competition, Prof. Ronggui Liu was very gratified that the participation enthusiasm of the junior students. The students were full of enthusiasm and creativity for the professional promotion. For senior students, it is especially important to enhance the application of professional knowledge in practice. The festival is a platform and it has important significance to cultivate students' professional ability and enhance their professionalism.
