On September 10th, our faculty held a professional cognition Lecture on Engineering Mechanics for freshmen in classroom 202, Sanjiang Building. The lecture was given by Prof. Jianguo Zhu, Dean of the Institute of Structural Health Management.

At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Zhu introduced the mechanics to the students and told about the application of mechanics in engineering and life. In order to enable students to have an in-depth understanding of the mechanics of our school, he also introduced the history and current situation of our faculty, including the teaching resources and scientific research achievements. Then, he showed the training plan of mechanics from the aspects of professional positioning and main disciplines. Finally, Prof. Zhu hoped that the students can formulate appropriate goals and methods, work hard and strive to achieve their goals in life.

The success of this lecture is of great practical significance for the freshmen from the major of engineering mechanics.
