In order to improve the students' manual ability and enhance our science innovation and research ability, our faculty held a building paper model contest named “I am an engineer” which attracted many students.

After the beginning of the competition, Wang Xin's team showed their work first, a classical castle with colourful cardboard. Next is a Triumphal Arch designed by YangKaichun's team. Different from the square archs of many classcial constructions,they designed a special arch like a drawbridge. In addition they used beautiful patterns on the upper part of the arch，which came from Chinese Paper-cuts. This innovation reflects the beauty of Chinese and Western elements combination. TianRuiqi's team made a Tai Chi house with white paper,which had a perfect innovation by a white window. And the house was covered with many antithetical couplets,which made it stood out. CaoJiaqiang's team showed performance of country well with their rural house, which have great artistic sense on fence and chimney.

This competition created a good creative atmosphere, enhanced students’ science and technology creative ability and made a colorful and meaningful campus life.
