Prof. She zhensu and Prof. Liu caishan from Peking University was invited to our faculty to made a report on the morning of November 22nd in the conference room 210. Dean Bi Qinsheng and all the students attended the meeting.
At the beginning, Prof. She made a report in the theme of “The study of the problems of turbulence and the modeling of Complex System”. The report created a structural ensemble theory of wall turbulence, successfully predicted the average velocity and kinetic energy profile of turbulence along the vertical direction. It provided a new basis for the accurate characterization of engineering complex turbulent boundary layers.

Then Prof. Liu gave a report of “Simple objects and complex mechanics problems”. The report listed several simple examples in daily life and explained the laws of mechanics behind simple objects. Through the analysis of these simple objects, he reexamined some classic mechanical concepts such as Coulomb's law of friction, collision recovery coefficient, rolling friction, Archimedes’ law, complete and incomplete constraints, etc.

The two professors' lectures were clear, concise, and easy to understand, which aroused strong interest from teachers and students.
