At 3 pm on April 12th, Wang Jianxiang, Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science, College of Engineering, Peking University, was invited to our faculty to make a report on the title of “Generalized Continuum Mechanics Theory in the Context of Contemporary Materials” in the conference room 210.

Prof. Wang firstly reviewed the origins of local theory and difficulties encountered in describing the mechanical behavior of contemporary materials. Then he introduced the Green's function of the nonlocal theory of near-field dynamics and theoretical framework of time-space non-local elastic dynamics for the development of heterogeneous materials. Finally, Prof. Wang discussed the form invariance of some nonlocal theory governing equations under coordinate transformation and metric transformation.
Prof. Wang’s lecture was clear, concise, and in-depth. The content of the lecture aroused strong interest from teachers and students. They had extensive exchanges and discussions with Prof. Wang on the academic issues in their research direction. And his rigorous professional, friendly and easy-going personality charm left a deep impression on the teachers and students.
